Sezincote

 

  a Mughal Indian palace set in the Cotswold Hills, created by the nabob Charles Cockerell in 1805.

The house features a copper dome and minarets, and set in a picturesque water garden with seven pools, waterfalls, a grotto and a temple to Surya, the Hindu Sun God. A curving Orangery frames the Persian Garden of Paradise.Sezincote was built in 1810 by Charles Cockerell, who had worked out in India, assisted by his brother, the architect Samuel Pepys Cockerell.

 

The house is set within a romantic garden with gravel paths, steep slopes and irregular stone bridges over the stream, so not ideal for wheelchairs or those with walking difficulties, but all of the garden can at least be seen from accessible viewpoints.Please exercise caution, especially in wet weather. The upstairs portion of the house tour is inaccessible to wheelchairs, but the house guide will provide a book with photos of the upstairs rooms to look at while you wait downstairs. Those who are disabled or with walking difficulties are welcome to park by the garden entrance or in front of the house to minimise walking.
