Its difficult not falling in love as you gaze upon the wonderful brick manor house as it reflects in the still waters of the Oxburgh Estate's moat.
The Bedingfeld family built the house in 1482 as a symbol of power and over the years, Oxburgh and the family have endured tumultuous times. The house has been through religious persecution, Civil War destruction, almost near dereliction with the threat of demolition, making Oxburghs history that of survival.
As you enter, you are introduced to the legacy of the 6th Baronet who lay down the foundations of what you see today, with the creation of it's Victorian Gothic interiors to ornate architectural additions that create a romanticised image of Oxburgh's medieval past.
The gardens have been designed with some being formal, while others have been allowed to grow into wilderness. There is a kitchen garden and orchard with a herbaceous border adding splashes of seasonal colour. And if you want to explore further out, you can follow wonderful estate walks that take you through woodlands, alongside the River Gadder, before opening out onto sweeping open meadows.
