Exploring the surrounding 5-hectare (12-acre) hillside garden is a highlight of any visit. The garden, having undergone a meticulous restoration, is a patchwork of beautifully designed spaces, each offering its own seasonal delights. Spring bursts forth in a riot of colour, while autumn brings a warm golden glow to the landscape, and winter offers a peaceful quietude, with architectural plants and sculptures standing out against the chill. The award-winning plant collection is a testament to the Beales’ passion for horticulture, featuring rare species and expert designs that reflect their commitment to beauty and craftsmanship.

 

After spending time in the garden, follow one of the many footpaths that wind through the estate, taking you deeper into the surrounding woodlands. The tranquil pathways lead into Ashdown Forest, famous for its connection to the "Winnie-the-Pooh" stories, where you can wander beneath ancient trees and breathe in the fresh forest air. Further still, the footpaths lead to the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where the countryside stretches out in all directions, offering stunning views and opportunities for peaceful contemplation.
