Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre.

There are nine exhibition rooms telling the story of the Wars of the Roses and the build up to the Bosworth Campaign, show what happened during the battle itself and how they changed British history in the following hundred years. Journey through medieval England and discover the horrors of medieval warfare and how the Battle of Bosworth unfolded.

Find out why Richard III and Henry Tudor came to fight at Bosworth, discover how commanders communicated and recruited armies, what the soldiers ate and what weapons and armour they had.

Meet the Tudor Kings and Queens and see Henry VIII in his hunting outfit and two early Yeomen of the Guard uniform reconstructions.

In the Heritage Centre, lies the 1485 Tithe medieval Barn cafe with exposed oak columns and beams ,as you step inside, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingles with the scent of pastries hits you. Soak in the charm of this historic local gem before commencing with your journey to the King Richard III Visitor Centre.

King Richard III Visitor Centre.

Visit King Richard III’s grave site and the award-winning exhibition about his life, death and one of the greatest archaeological detective stories ever told.

Fast-forward over 500 years to a car park in Leicester city centre where the amazing DNA evidence resulted in the discovery of the long-lost remains of King Richard III, the first archaeological remains found in the first trench dug on the very first day of the two week dig.

Leicester Cathedral.

On 21 August 1485 Richard III rode from Leicester to confront Henry Tudor at Bosworth Field. The following day his  body was unceremoniously stripped of armour and slung on horseback for all to see.

In 2015, some 530 years later, and three years after his remains were found beneath a city centre car park, Richard III made that same journey to Bosworth and back to Leicester, but this time it was his coffined remains, set upon a gun carriage that made the journey.
